Hi, I am Angie and I am from Malaysia. I have been toying with this idea for years! That is to quit my job
for good, focus on my family and doing something that I love without looking at
it as just another job. It will be the job that I love to do and tailor made
according to my strength and passion.
Don’t get me wrong. I love my job (not as in that I would die
for it), but I feel that I am going no where. Plus, there is this aching yearning feeling to break free and living my life in my own terms.
I also felt that I wasn't utilizing my strengths to the
fullest. It is disappointing to go for interviews, one after another, only to
listen to these companies summarizing (or rather define me) my strengths based
on my CV *Come on, I can do better than that!*
Not wanting to waste any more of my youth time working for
others (and going no where), getting myself stuck in traffic every single day (wasted my time and petrol for nothing), justifying my reasons to apply for annual leave (so the boss would approve my leave application) and feeling agitated each time I hear the tone from my blackberry indicating that I have mails from the office whenever I am on a break, getting tangled in the middle of a nasty office politics...Phew! I really feel suffocated thinking about it!
So I went into a deep thinking mode during a family trip one day and asked myself, HOW COME NO ONE EVER COME UP WITH A 101 MANUAL OR GUIDE ON HOW TO QUIT JOB FOR GOOD, BUT STILL MAKE A LIVING?

Wouldn't it be great to hear it from the horse’s mouth on how
they actually DID it? And why did they DO it? Wouldn't it be cool if someone
shows you the way on how it is done so you don't fumble in the dark?
Then, I visualized a book, as HUGE as a yellow pages,
complete with a tried and tested “How To” instructions! It should be as simple enough to follow for laymen people like myself and can be customised according to my pace.
Well, it is also not
that bad to throw in with outrageous ideas as well – who knows they might turn
out great! Okay, the size part is over exaggerating.
Then, an idea struck me.
Heck! Why don’t I start it instead? I can help many others
just like me!
Recent statistics have shown that about 70% employees today
have thought about leaving their job but unwilling to proceed because :
- They don't know how to go for it...and when is the best time to do it;
- They were unsure of what exactly their passion is;
- Whether the plan to leave will backfire them, or otherwise;
- Leaving the job would mean leaving the measly salary and perks.
Like most people, they imagined the negative and afraid to
step out of their comfort zone. They are afraid of losing it all. Even worst, getting unfavorable feedback from family and friends that they will
never be able to make it in business! It's all in the mindset that has been conditioned for years!
So I decided to go ahead creating a platform for people like you and me, so together we can embark on a journey to create the lifestyle that our hearts always desire!
don't worry angie, u are on right track.
ReplyDeletenot 70% but 99% people wanted to resign but dare not say it upfront.
u know that 99% includes me too.
hmm, how cani phone u to discuss further?
Hi there, you can write to me at quitjoblivelife@gmail.com. Thanks for the support. Its always due to unknown fear that prevented us from moving forward.
ReplyDeleteVery true and interesting blog.
ReplyDeleteMany people complain about how bad their job is but do not dare to change anything either because of fear, responsibilities or bad debts.
While some love their jobs, some are just comfortable receiving that monthly paycheck doing the same old routine jobs they detest.
At end of the road, each person will only have themselves to account for on whether their lives turn out the way they want it to be.
I wish the best to you Angie!
